This is a huge fucking deal when it comes to Bangladesh and it’s history. It was the very reason Bangladesh takes such great pride in its status as an individual and separate country from both Pakistan and India despite it’s current state. They did all of this not only because of how Pakistan was treating the then considered “East Pakistani” people, but also because Pakistan was literally trying to erase everything that was the Bengali people, from their culture, to their language, to all of the regions great history. And America funded it.
Just one of the many mass genocides that America has propagated really.This shit hits home.
It’s so sad to go back to my country and see how things are just now starting to get better. Pakistan set Bangladesh back so much and honestly, my mom almost got killed at the age of 3 in that genocide.
To think this was only about 44 years ago and it’s still impacting us.For those of you who don’t know;
- There was an occupation and checkpoints at which bangadeshi men had to prove they were muslim to pass through, by showing their private parts to show they were circumcised.
- Villages were burned down wiping out innocent civillians
- Women and girls were kidnapped were raped at mass in rape camps, some raped several times a day. So many women were wrongfully disowned from their families because of this leading to a mass suicide of rape victims.
- Bangladesh was considered “low lying land of low lying people”, we were often described as monkeys. (I’ve had pakistanis call me this)
- Rivers carried corpses and were filled with blood.
- When villages were invaded, men, women and children were lined up and shot dead on the spot
- Universities were atacked to wipe out any intellects
- They killed 3 million bangladeshis in the space of 9 months.
- For any pakistani who wants to deny this genocide- you don’t get to decide whether or not the annihilation of 3 million people is a genocide or not. It is recorded as one of the largest genocides of the 20th century by the guiness book of records.Also let’s not give India all the credit? When India literally was treating bengali refugees like actual shit and the Bangladeshi Lib Army actually did all of the work for almost a year.
